Turn the end of your article into a conversation
The reader finishes your article and has one more question. Right now they take it somewhere else, along with everything that question was worth. The Adgentek Publisher Widget keeps that exchange on your page, holds the session open, and monetizes a moment that currently earns nothing.
The end of your article is your most wasted real estate
- Today that slot sends readers away. A grid of recommendation thumbnails whose commercial purpose is to move the reader off your site, with click-through declining for years.
- The reader is at peak intent. They just read two thousand words on family SUVs, refinancing, or standing desks, and their follow-up is the question that matters: what does it cost, which fits me, what do I do next.
- That question goes to someone else. Typed into an external assistant, along with everything it was worth.
A recommendation widget is paid to send your reader away. The Publisher Widget is built to keep them, and to turn the question they were going to ask elsewhere into inventory you own.
What the reader experience looks like
- A reader finishes an article, for example a roundup of the best family SUVs.
- Below the editorial, the widget opens with a contextual prompt inviting them to explore the topic further.
- They tap a suggested prompt derived from the article's own topics, or type their own question.
- The widget answers with useful, article-relevant information.
- When the conversation touches a commercial topic, a contextually matched ad appears inside the exchange. That can be a Spark interactive unit, a contextual card, or a sponsored recommendation.
- All of it happens in the widget. No page navigation, no redirect, no lost session.
Spark is the format that makes this worth premium budget rather than remnant spend. Rather than a static sponsored line, the advertiser supplies a structured knowledge base and the reader runs their own Q&A against it, self-qualifying as they go. Spark units average 3.2 interactions per session and cap at ten, which protects the experience while producing genuinely deep intent data.
Where the answers come from
Three sources, combined per request.
Article context
The widget understands what your piece was about and can reference its key points, so the conversation continues your editorial rather than talking past it.
Brand knowledge bases
Advertisers supply structured Q&A content, the same material that powers Spark units. Product answers come from the brand, and are labelled as such.
Category knowledge
General subject knowledge for follow-ups that go beyond the specific article, so the reader is not dead-ended on their second question.
What it adds, and what it does not touch
| Content recommendation unit | Adgentek Publisher Widget | |
|---|---|---|
| Commercial purpose | Send the reader to another destination | Hold the reader and deepen the session |
| Reader value | Thumbnail links, variable quality | A direct answer to their actual follow-up question |
| Signal available to the ad decision | Article URL and page category | What the reader stated in their own words |
| Effect on existing placements | Occupies the slot | Occupies the same slot, leaves display, video, and direct-sold untouched |
| Engineering required | Snippet | Snippet |
Revenue from the widget is incremental. It is a new surface on inventory you already own, and it competes for placement against a unit whose success metric is your reader leaving. Conversational placements earn 3 to 8 times higher engagement than display creative, and campaigns on this inventory have delivered 70 percent higher ROAS against target with 1.5 times stronger click-to-convert performance. See AI advertising versus display for the fuller comparison.
Which publishers this fits
Any site with a deep article archive and commercial-intent editorial. It is not a news product.
High-traffic editorial
News, tech and product review, automotive, travel, lifestyle and health. Large archives where existing display revenue can be supplemented rather than replaced.
Vertical content sites
Automotive, home improvement, personal finance, travel, health and wellness. Deep category relevance drives the strongest widget performance.
Publishers adding AI layers
Already building your own chat or on-site search? The widget complements it, or Adgentek monetizes the layer you built through the Web SDK.
Two things it also replaces cleanly. Publishers running their own AI chat often find the maintenance cost outruns the benefit, and the widget removes that burden while adding revenue. Publishers running comment sections are carrying a moderation cost with almost no commercial return, and the widget puts structured, brand-safe interaction in the same slot.
Monetizing agent traffic
The second thing changing for publishers is who is reading. On September 15, 2026, Cloudflare's default settings begin blocking mixed-use AI crawlers on ad-supported pages. The change was announced July 1, 2026 and splits bot traffic into search, agent, and training categories, so a site owner can permit indexing while restricting agent access and model training independently. Agent and training classes are blocked by default on ad-supported pages, and the new defaults apply to new Cloudflare customers, new sites added by existing customers, and existing free-tier customers.
Block and allow are not the only two options. Blocking preserves the content and forfeits the visibility. Allowing for free reproduces the bargain that already hollowed out search referral value. The third option is to allow agent access on commercial terms, so the visit carries an ad decision with it rather than arriving stripped of one. That path runs through AdsMCP, and the protocol layer is being standardised through the Ad Context Protocol, the open industry specification stewarded by AgenticAdvertising.org, of which Adgentek is a founding member.
| Integration path | Rendering context | Direct and Programmatic CPM | CPC | CPA |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Publisher Widget | Real browser | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Web SDK | Real browser | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| REST API, certified | Publisher-rendered client-side | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| AdsMCP | Headless or agent | No | Yes, filtered | Yes |
The widget renders in a real browser, so it carries full demand eligibility across all four tiers: direct campaigns, programmatic demand from leading partners, CPC feeds, and outcome-priced budgets. An agent request has nothing rendering in a browser, so it monetizes on outcomes instead. The full matrix is maintained at choosing your integration path.
How it deploys
- The snippet. A script tag on your article template, rendering at the position you configure, typically end of article. Your API key and slot ID are provisioned in the dashboard under Settings, API Keys and Inventory, Surfaces.
- Article context ingestion. The widget derives topic and category from your existing meta tags and structured data, so no additional tagging work is required in most templates.
- Configuration. Article categories, allowed advertiser categories, brand blocklists, frequency caps, and floor pricing are set in the dashboard rather than in the snippet, so changes do not require a redeploy.

Controls and brand safety
Editorial adjacency rules are stricter here than on any other surface, and the controls reflect that. Sensitive topic exclusion runs automatically across health, mental health, politics, and financial distress contexts, so monetization does not attach to coverage where it would be inappropriate. On top of that you set category allowlists, named brand blocks, frequency caps, and a minimum quality floor. Targeting runs on derived signals only. No raw reader prompts, no conversation transcripts, and no personally identifiable information are passed to any demand partner. Full detail is in brand safety in AI advertising.
Who built this
Adgentek's two founders have been building programmatic infrastructure since 2007, on both sides of the transaction. Frank Sinton founded Beachfront in 2007 and ran it as a cross-screen video SSP for CTV and streaming publishers until Seedtag acquired it in 2024. Paul Harrison co-founded Simpli.fi and served as its Chief Technology Officer, building the programmatic DSP and the buy-side infrastructure underneath it.
That matters here for a specific reason. Publisher yield, direct-sold versus programmatic tiering, and the economics of a page that has to fund editorial are not new problems. Beachfront spent seventeen years on the sell side solving exactly those problems for premium video and CTV publishers, which is the same job with a different surface. Adgentek approaches this as a publisher revenue problem, because that is the discipline both founders came from.
Frequently asked questions
Nothing to start. No setup fee, no platform fee to install, no minimum traffic, and no contract required to go live. Create an account, generate a slot ID, and add the snippet to your article template.
No, because it adds a surface rather than replacing one. Your display, video, and direct-sold placements are untouched. The widget monetizes the moment a reader finishes an article and has a follow-up question, which currently earns nothing.
No. The widget is a JavaScript snippet on your article template. No chat interface, no LLM contract, no prompt pipeline, no AI engineering team. Publishers who already run their own AI layer can monetize it instead through the Web SDK.
A recommendation unit is paid to send readers off your site. The widget is built to hold them and deepen the session. It also changes what the ad decision knows: instead of matching against an article URL, it matches against a reader who has stated a budget, a requirement, or a use case in their own words.
Not exclusive, and yes. You set category allowlists, block named brands including your own competitors, set frequency caps and a quality floor. Sensitive topics including health, mental health, politics, and financial distress are excluded from monetization automatically.
Most publishers are serving the same day. The snippet goes on the article template, article context comes from your existing meta tags and structured data, and everything else is configured in the dashboard without a redeploy.
